CAPACITIVE TOUCH SCREENS
There are many suppliers of capacitive touch screens which offer products for the consumer electronics markets for mobile handsets and tablet PC’s. At first sight, these products are based on a bewildering array of options including a range of material systems, technologies and stack-ups. There are also several credible vendors of touchscreen driver IC.
CONSUMER GRADE TOUCHSCREENS AND THE ASSOCIATED TOUCHSCREEN DRIVER IC’s ARE NOT IDEALLY SUITED FOR NON-CONSUMER APPLICATIONS

STANDARD PRODUCTS – BRILLIANCE
The Brilliance series of touchscreens are manufactured using ITO on PET and integrated with a driver IC tail and laminated to a front lens.

BRILLIANCE SERIES PRODUCTS
The Brilliance series of projected capacitive touchscreen products are designed to meet the most demanding requirements for mission critical and other high performance applications where conducted EMC is often high. The modules comply with the rigorous requirements of the EN61000 4-6 Class A EMC specification and are manufactured using the latest manufacturing technologies on a highly automated production line.
Brilliance sensors are constructed from two layers of index-matched ITO on PET substrates providing excellent optical properties. The standard sensors are optically bonded to a chemically strengthened & decorated 2mm thick cover lens. Drive electronics are provided on an integrated flexible tail and are controlled with a state of the art Atmel maXTouch™ driver IC which can be interfaced over I2C or USB.
Brilliance touchscreens are provided as standard products in modular form to provide engineers an easy, fast and straightforward way to incorporate multi-touch capability into their design thus speeding time to market. As an option, the sensor and electronics can also be provided on a stand-alone basis pre-laminated with optically clear adhesive for the end user to integrate with their own lens assembly.
To guarantee successful integration in the end product, users of Brilliance series products are provided with access to the TouchNetix ‘TouchHub’ software and hardware toolset which makes evaluation, integration, tuning and testing of the capacitive touch subsystem a seamless process.
Brilliance series products are available to suit displays in the range of 4.3” to 10.4” diagonal.
STANDARD PRODUCTS – LUMINANCE
The Luminance series of touchscreens are manufactured from ITO on glass substrates using an innovative laser process. Luminance ‘Black’ products are manufactured with reduced edge margins for a more compact sensor.

LUMINANCE SERIES PRODUCTS
Luminance sensors are constructed from two-layers of ITO on 0.7mm Glass substrates, providing an extremely robust structure with excellent optical properties. These sensors are typically optically bonded to a chemically strengthened & decorated 2-4mm thick cover lens providing a very robust and fully tested module which is ready to integrate into end user products. The sensors have a ‘passive tail and use a custom-designed driver board which uses a state of the art Atmel maXTouch™ driver IC and which provides the user with access to I2C or USB interfaces.
Designed to meet the most demanding industrial requirements, Luminance projected capacitive touchscreen products are ideal for mission critical and other high performance applications where conducted EMC is often high. The modules comply with the rigorous requirements of the EN61000 4-6 Class A EMC specification and are manufactured in the UK using the latest manufacturing technologies on a highly flexible production line.
