aXiom is a family of chips designed from scratch by TouchNetix Engineers to provide superior touch, touchless and force-sensing.
The chip family boasts the highest Signal-to-Noise Ratios (SNR) in the industry and provides a flexibility in sensor design.
The aXiom sensing pins are completely configurable between transmitter and receiver channels. This provides added flexibility to the design of touch sensors.
Please get in touch with the TouchNetix Sales Department for an accurate quotation.
The family currently consists of the AX54A, AX80A, AX112A, and the AX198A. The number in the chip name reflects the number of sense pins.
Please get in touch with the TouchNetix Sales Department. You will be able to obtain an evaluation kit (EVK) to test the different aXiom features. We can also discuss your projects and integrate the aXiom chip and or/sensors into them directly.

Yes, aXiom is qualified to AEC-Q100.
Yes, aXiom easily passes all EMC tests presented by various industries and applications, as this has been considered carefully in the chip design.
The minimum size is limited by the size of a finger interaction and can be catered for by the AX54A chip. We have enabled touch on a 55” display using the AX198A chip. Given node pitch requirements, larger than 55” would be possible.

Automotive AEC-Q100. We are also obtaining the ASIL-ready status for the full chip family.
The only custom chip is a force/press-only version of the AX54A chip. This variant of the chip is called AX54A-Force.

The TouchHub2 software serves as a design studio as well as a tuning tool for all TouchNetix sensor offerings.
TNx currently has sensor designs in the market ranging from <2″ to 24″ diagonal. The lower end of the size range is typically limited by usability based on finger size.
TouchNetix primarily uses dual side ITO/Glass and 2-layer ITO/PET designs for the highest performance sensors. We have also manufactured true single layer sensors (known as OGS / Touch-on-Lens) from both ITO and from Metal Mesh. Our foundry partners can manufacture using many different combinations of materials and stacks if there is a specific need on a project.
TouchNetix sensor designs use the thinnest possible stack-ups available to meet any application and performance requirement. Sensor thicknesses typically range from OGS/touch-on-lens (zero thickness), ITO PET of 75 to 300 microns and dual side ITO / glass of 400 to 700 microns.
There is no simple answer to this question as it clearly depends on the size of the sensor, the process, and the overall configuration. However, all of our processes use state-of-the-art metalisation processes to maximise tracking density.
Our ‘standard product’ sensors work successfully with cover lenses up to 10mm. They can potentially work with even thicker cover lenses.
Our standard touchscreens also work with lenses that are thinner than 2mm, with some compromise on linearity. We would recommend a custom touchscreen in this case which can be designed to work through thinner front lenses with excellent linearity.
Most of our front lenses are made from high quality glass. In some cases this glass is chemically strengthened or has a specific surface finish such as anti-glare (AG) or anti-fingerprint (AF).
We can also specify proprietary front lens glasses such as Gorilla(TM) glass for Corning(TM).
It is possible to use a plastic front lens. It is important to remember that the dielectric constant of plastic is significantly lower than that of glass. Hence, a rough guide for the equivalent thickness of plastic vs glass is that plastic can be 50% of the thickness of glass for equivalent touch delta / SNR performance.
Compatibility of materials is an important consideration. For example, a glass sensor and a plastic lens are sometimes difficult to work with .
Yes, TouchNetix can support either approach for custom products to meet customer design requirements and preferences.
TouchNetix has been evaluating alternative transparent conductive materials including metal mesh and silver nanowire and is planning to implement these in future generations of sensor design. These materials are already included in our design tools.
Sensors: TouchNetix has a number of direct factory partnerships in China, Korea and in the UK. Each factory has a unique product manufacturing base and capability which allows us to address the broadest range of customer requirements.
aXiom: Our aXiom chips are manufactured in world class and renowned facilities in Asia.
TouchNetix is proud to have achieved ISO9001 certification from BSI in 2014. All of our sensor and IC partners are also all at least ISO9001 certified.
Yes. TouchNetix provides self-test capabilities as well as production test software.
TouchNetix provides evaluation kits of various sizes. These kits contain a touch sensor, the aXiom evaluation PCB board and all other circuits, software and tools required to get started.
TouchNetix is also able to provide quotations for sensors. We provide design and manufacturing services.
This is heavily dependent on the project type, the industry and qualification stages. At TouchNetix, we work closely with our customers to minimise project times as much as possible.
We work with our customers very closely from start to finish. We will be available from the ideation stage, through to chip selection, to designing and reviewing, as well as implementation and tuning.
