MEDICAL
For when hygiene and performance matter

MEDICAL
Touchscreens are an ideal user interface for many medical applications. In a hospital environment all equipment needs to be sanitised regularly. Unlike traditional buttons and dials, a capacitive touchscreen can be disinfected thoroughly and there are no recesses where germs and dirt can accumulate.
Projected capacitive touchscreens can be completely sealed and with a reinforced glass front panel even the harshest cleaning agents will not damage the device. The ease of use of capacitive touchscreens also makes them ideal for patient use, whether in hospital for operation of the television or for at home monitoring in devices such as insulin pumps.

GLOVED OPERATION
Medical professionals must wear gloves for hygiene reasons and it is essential that equipment can be operated without removing them. Gloves create an insulating barrier between the finger and the screen which can make a touch harder to detect. However, TouchNetix are experienced in designing medical touchscreens for gloved use and with application specific tuning TouchNetix touchscreens deliver the same responsive user interface whether or not gloves are worn.

CONTAMINANTS
In a hospital environment, a wide range of chemicals and other contaminants may come into contact with a touchscreen. Touchscreens are a robust interface and can be easily cleaned, however it is also important that a touchscreen does not mistake these contaminants for touches. TouchNetix touchscreens are designed to detect and reject contaminants on the screen, and only respond to valid touch inputs.
THE TOUCHNETIX RANGE
TouchNetix have development two ranges of touchscreen modules which are ideally suited to medical applications. The Brilliance family includes touchscreens of 4.3” to 10.4” in diagonal and is developed from two layers of ITO on glass and the Luminance family includes larger touchscreens of up to 21.5” in diagonal and is manufactured from two layers of ITO on glass. If a different screen size is required or for other non-standard requirements the TouchNetix team also develop custom touchscreen modules.
