TouchNetix’ project is titled “HMI4Auto”. The project’s aim is to bring TouchNetix’ disruptive aXiom chip family to full market maturation and to industrialize the products to volume production launch and scale-up. The disruptive aXiom technology is bringing significant advantages to the automotive and industrial markets for touch-based HMI. aXiom’s ~100 times performance uplift over the traditional touch technologies enables a range of safety-enhancing features and operational benefits to the HMI.
Annually, 25.000 people die on European roads, and driver’s distraction is responsible for about 15% of car accidents. At the same time, touchscreens are becoming the standard user interface in all new cars. Addressing driver’s distraction requires a new approach for the touchscreen HMI. The driver should operate the HMI with as little as possible direct eye contact, while keeping the attention on the road.
The project started in October 2019 and will be running until September 2021.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 880726
